News TOP 10: UK Small Music Festivals

With big concentration placed on the likes of Wireless and V Festival, people are quick to overlook the small festivals. There is no doubt that big music festivals are great, but sometimes they can overly popular at your expense. Missing out on the big festivals isn’t always a problem, as the small festivals in the UK offer an intimate atmosphere with thousands of people and a cheaper price. We have come up with the top 10 small music festivals in the UK!

 

Parklife

Parklife maybe the most popular on the list of festivals, as it draws attendees from all over the country! Parklife has seen acts such as Ice Cube, Disclosure, Jamie XX and Ben Howard grace the stage. Those who host the incredible Warehouse Project introduced the festival into Manchester and they haven’t looked back. A whole weekend ticket will cost you £95, which is peanuts compared to the likes of Glastonbury!

 

Love Saves The Day

Next on our list is Love Saves The Day. It started back in 2012 and is different to the rest of the festivals as it started off as a one-day event. Based in Bristol’s Castle Park, Love Saves The Day now has an incredible 20,000 people attending every year, covering some of the finest underground music. Each day will bring something different, so choosing which day to go to is hugely important, which will see different genres cover different days.  

 

MacFest

MacFest is based in the heart of Southampton, with an unknown location. It recently started once Mac Campbell was killed in February 2016, which saw his family raise funds in order to do something in his memory. People kept on coming and MacFest was created in the memory Mac Campbell. Those from Geordie Shore and Craig David are known to have helped launch a successful campaign online and now we are graced with the MacFest!

 

Gottwood

Gottwood is based in Anglesey, Wales and it is one of the more expensive festivals with tickets at £140. It is seen as a ‘must’ attend festival in the calendar year with a huge appreciation for music. Gottwood only features electronic music, however it has seen huge acts such as Adam Shelton!

 

Shindig Weekender

Shindig Weekender offers an early introduction into the festival season, as it is in May. Many people have seen the Shindig Weekender as a true festival featuring genres such as Ghetto funk and house. There have seen several artists that have taken up the opportunity to perform at Shindig Weekender and with a reasonable £99 – £115, it is ridiculously cheap.

 

The Big Festival

In Kingham, The Cotsworld, The Big Festival hosts an incredible event for thousands of people every year. Founded by Jamie Oliver and Alex James, The Big Festival has focuses of both food and music! Whether you want to go to a festival filled with love for music, as well as food, The Big Festival is right up your street. Raymond Blanc, Jamie Oliver, Ella Eyre and Grandmaster Flash are only a few acts to have performed at The Big Festival.

 

2000trees

2000trees provides a smaller feel with 5000 people, but produces an intimate atmosphere compared to other festivals. Similar to The Big Festival, 2000trees have a huge appreciation for food, drinks and music. The likes of Frank Turner and Twin Atlantic have graced the stage, making it an extremely popular event. For £95 you’ll find yourself having the time of your life with 2000trees!

 

BoomTown Fair

BoomTown Fair is another popular one included into the small festival list. With the self-proclaimed title of the ‘maddest city in the UK’, BoomTown is based in Hampshire. Those at attendance tend to camp overnight with the likes of Damien Marley headlining the prestigious BoomTown!

 

Beat-Herder

The Beat-Herder is the next on the list and is based around fancy dress! Beat-Herder have won awards with the ability to create one of the best atmospheres in the festival year! For those who haven’t heard of Beat-Herder, Basement Jaxx were the headline act in 2015 and 2016’s is yet to be released. At £144 you’ll have a great time in Dockber Farm, Lancashire!

 

Farmfest

Farmfest happens often falls in July, providing an eclectic mixture of music. Featuring dub, folk, house and pretty much every other genre, Farmfest can provide good music, local food and performers across the whole festival. If you’re looking for something a little different compared to the Glastonbury, Farmfest will be right up your street!
